The Patient Participation Group (PPG) Newsletter. January 2025

Happy New Year!

We’re excited to share our first-ever Patient Participation Group (PPG) newsletter. The PPG is an important initiative where patients like you can provide valuable feedback to help us improve our services. The group meets three to four times a year, and we’ll now bring you updates every six months.

Meet Dr. Solomon – Our New Senior Partner

Dr. Solomon, with over 22 years of NHS experience, has taken on the role of Senior Partner at Woodland Drive Medical Centre following Dr. Ali’s retirement. Having joined us in 2016 as a locum GP, Dr. Solomon has brought his expertise in primary care, education, and leadership to enhance patient care. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals and is committed to ensuring our practice delivers patient-centred, innovative healthcare.

Social Prescribing – A New Way to Support Your Wellbeing

Social prescribing connects patients with community services to improve health and well-being. It’s particularly effective for those with long-term conditions, low-level mental health issues, or complex social needs. You’ll work with a link worker to create a personalised plan and access support for practical needs, mental health, or social activities.

To find out more, ask a healthcare professional or email us at syicb-barnsley.pcnsocialprescribing@nhs.net.

Exciting Updates:

  • Appointments: 7 am slots are now available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Customer Service: All staff are undergoing training to serve you better.
  • Convenience: The NHS App is a great tool for managing prescriptions and health inquiries.
